Standby Power

Generators supplied, installed and load-tested

We size a generator to the load you actually need to keep running, install it with proper switchgear and an automatic changeover, and keep it serviced so it starts the one time it really matters.

GENERATOR SUPPLY & INSTALLATION

What's included

A complete standby power installation

  • Load assessment to size the right kVA rating
  • Supply of standby and prime-power diesel generators
  • Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) installation
  • Weatherproof housing and exhaust routing
  • Fuel system setup and safety isolation
  • Scheduled servicing and load testing

Solar or generator?

Often, both — for different jobs

Solar and battery handle daily use and short outages quietly and with no fuel cost. A generator is there for the outages that run long, or the loads too heavy for a battery bank to carry alone. We're happy to design either on its own, or size them to work together through one distribution board.

Common questions

Generator FAQ

What size generator do I need?

It depends on the combined load you want to keep running during an outage, including startup surge for motors and compressors, not just the running wattage. We calculate this from your actual equipment list before recommending a kVA rating.

Will it switch on automatically when Kenya Power fails?

Yes, when fitted with an Automatic Transfer Switch the generator starts and takes over the load within seconds of an outage, and switches back once grid power is stable.

Can a generator work alongside my solar system?

Yes — most hybrid solar installs we do include a generator or an ATS input for one, so solar and battery cover day-to-day use while the generator is reserved for extended outages or cloudy stretches.
